This lake was formed by the collapse of part of Mount Kepaz and the cutting of the Agsu River as a result of an earthquake that occurred in the year Ganji in 1139. Its deepest spot is 95 meters. Maral-gol is 1,902 meters above sea level, and its deepest spot is 60 meters.
